Presenting “Sound & Spirit” – February 3, 2019

Our annual “Sound & Spirit” event will take place on Sunday, February 3, 2019, during the United Nations World Interfaith Harmony Week (February 1-7). The week seeks to spread the message of harmony and tolerance among the followers of the three monotheistic faiths and all the world’s religions. Its message invites everyone, excludes no one and is purely voluntary.

Our February 3 event will featuring area artists and other events at the First Baptist Church at 2:00 PM. Admission is free.

Scheduled to perform:

  • Parkwood Upjohn Drum Group – Student percussion ensemble
  • Sid Ellis II – Jembe and African Song
  • Helen L. Fox Gospel Music Center – Student Ensemble
  • Karl Schrock – Organ
  • Taiko Drummers with Esther Vandecar and Carolyn Koebel
  • Samuel Nalangira – Ugandan Harp
  • Bahar Ensemble – Middle-Eastern Music

A Syrian dinner is planned to follow the concert, $15/person. Call the First Baptist Church at 269-345-2195 for dinner details and reservations.
