Unity of Kalamazoo
Singing in ancient languages of world religions, Sacred Waters Kirtan invites the audience into heart-centered devotional chanting across interfaith paths to unity in the One.” The group is the resident ensemble at Sacred Waters Spiritual Center in South Bend, Ind. They will be joined in this program by local world percussionist Carolyn Koebel.
The Kirtan has been making music together for nine years. With the powerhouse songwriting and lead vocals of Allen DeSomer, and his Shakti co-leader, Marie Ferraro and a rocking world percussion sound, participants regularly tell the group after attending their kirtans, they feel renewed, at peace, and transported into the Oneness to which we all belong.
Sacred Waters Kirtan ensemble is a community of musical seekers who combine diverse backgrounds in theology and world religions, music therapy and sound healing, meditation, ecstatic dance, QiGong, and world percussion. But each member has one thing in common: a commitment to serve others through the Yoga of Sound. Using call and response chanting with easy, repetitive melodies and joyous danceable rhythms, the songs set free the chattering mind, deepen the breath and create a state of calm, where the eternal love that lies in each heart can unfold and open.
Admission to this concert is free. Donations will be accepted.
